In order to encourage and spur the kemono community’s unique and widely diverse creativity, we here at JMoF invite distinguished individuals who’ve made great strides both within and outside of kemono culture as Guests of Honor (GoH), and organize events that are bound to inspire all participants to envision a bright future.
We’ve invited Mr. Kappei Yamaguchi (山口勝平) to JMoF 2025 as our Guest of Honor, and will hold a talk show and autograph session with him.
Mr. Kappei Yamaguchi
Kappei Yamaguchi is an actor and voice actor who has breathed life into a wide range of characters, from charming mood makers to deep romantic interests. The voice of Ranma Saotome from “Ranma 1/2”, the voice of Inuyasha from “Inuyasha”, the voice of Usopp from “ONE PIECE” — Come to think of it, even if you’re not an anime fan, if you’ve listened to Japanese dubs you can probably think of a time you’ve heard his spirited voice acting somewhere.
Mr. Yamaguchi, who has been active on the front lines for many years, is well-known for his highly-rated voice acting of animal characters, particularly his portrayal of monkeys. Starting with his vocal performance in the app game “Tokyo Afterschool Summoners” in recent years, information about him started to be transmitted to kemono fans, and he has participated in booths and events at kemono conventions like Kemoket, JMoF, Infurnity in Taiwan, etc. doing voice performances. Adding onto the clear achievements of his up until now, he’s brought life to his kemono characters and captured the hearts of many kemono fans.

Kappei Yamaguchi (山口 勝平)

“Ranma 1/2” as Ranma Saotome. “Inuyasha” as Inuyasha. “ONE PIECE” as Usopp. “Case Closed” as Jimmy Kudo/Kaito Kid. “Persona 4” as Teddie. “Beast Wars: Transformers” as Rattrap.
At the GoH Talk Show this time, we’ll ask Mr. Yamaguchi to talk about his career of over a quarter of a century ‘playing characters’ as a professional actor and voice actor. We’ll also ask him how he reflects ‘kemono’ characters, and from that kemono starting point we’ll throw questions at him and hear his thoughts and opinions.
The driving factor behind our ‘likes’ is most likely a primitive one. When beginning to consider about how it develops, we discover a wide variety of viewpoints. Through the GoH Talk Show, we hope to re-examine and deepen our understanding of kemono from multiple angles. Please enjoy this invaluable once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
In addition, he will invite the participants selected in the preliminary drawing (tentatively around 100 people) to an autograph session after the GoH Talk Show. The drawing will be held during the GoH Talk Show. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the entrance to the GoH Talk Show, and are limited (tentatively up to 500). Autographs will only be available on postcards that will be distributed to those selected in the drawing.
